Karin Hanssen (*1960, Belgium) is a painter and founder of the online database „Contemporary women artist in Belgium“. Her works, which often deal with the representation of women, are on view in international exhibitions, like at SMAK in Gent, Mas Museum Antwerp and Salzburger Kunstverein.

The photography of Françoise Hardy was part of the group exhibition „Punctum“ at the Salzburger Kunstverein, which invited international artists to show their favourite photographs. The artists were free to chose works form themself, from other artists or anoymous photographers. Hanssen chose this photograph, which she used as a template for one of her paintings.

Works by Karin Hanssen are part of several art collections, like Stedelijk Museum in Ghent.
