Pierre Alechinsky (*1927, Belgium) is an artists, whose work relate to abstract expressionism and lyrical abstraction. Together with Christian Dortemont, Karel Appel, Constant, Jan Nieuwenhuys and Asger Jorn he founded the art group Cobra.
Pierre Alechinsky had solo exhibitions in the most imporatant art museums, like MoMA New York, National Museum of Osaka, Royal Museum of Fine Arts Belgium and ICA London.
Works by Alechinsky are part of major art collections, like MoMA New York, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Reina Sofia Madrid, Museum Ludwig Cologne, National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, as well as many more.
