Hans Schabus (*1970, Austria) is known for his often site specific sculptures and installation, which got international attention after his large installation „The Last Land“ at the Austrian pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2005.  He is a professor for sculpture at the University for Applied Arts in Vienna and his works get exhibited in solo exhibitions at international institutions like SITE Santa Fe, The Barbican, Kunstverein Darmstadt, Kunstverein Salzburg, Belvedere21, Secession, Culturgest, IAC Villeurbanne and Bonner Kunstverein.

The Vinyl „Schallplatte“ was issued as an Edition of 500 in the year 2001. It has the shape of a saw blade and one can listen on Side A to the sound of a train and on Side B to the sound of a saw.
Motives of travelling, especially with trains and bicycles, as well as wood as a material for sculpture and the connected tools are recurring since the beginning of his career in Schabus‘ works. Therefore this vinyl is combining in form and content some of the most significant topics of the artist.

Works by Hans Schabus are part of important institutional collections like mumok Vienna, Belvedere, Museum of Applied Arts and Frac Franche-Comté.
