HOW TO PLAY:
They said the way that I played was disorganized.
Apparently I played with toys in ways that the designer or manufacturer had not intended. It seemed like this annoyed them, but I think what they were actually saying, but hadn’t realized at the time , was that I had a curious creative mind.
A friend once explained to me that you can flick a light switch, of course, but you can also lick it, ignore it, think about it, photograph it, melt it, fire its protons around a particle accelerator, write a poem about it, pray for it, trade it for something else, recycle it and remember it, give it AI and allow it to take you for a walk on a lead. But none of those things will stop it being a light switch.
They said I played in an illogical way. ‘Inappropriate’ play is the catalyst of things without words, objects, shapes, light, shadow, signs, signifiers, patterns, traces; we see things that have not even been named by you yet. They are so abstract they have not been given a word.
